Get started

Petanque Manager allows you to organize a pétanque, jeu provençal or palet tournament (and other similar sports), to automatically manage the drawing of rounds according to the formats (X rounds, ABC, AB, direct elimination, melee), and to follow the results live up to the winners or the final ranking. All your tournaments are saved and accessible at any time to view score and results.

Yes, it's free. You can create a tournament for a club, an association, a private event or a friendly tournament. It is not necessary to be club president or committee member: anyone can organize a tournament, all you need to do is create an organizer account.

You can register as many teams as you want. Petanque Manager also manages cases where the number of teams (or players) is odd, with the management of byes.

Tournament formats

It all depends on your preferences, the time available, the season and the number of teams. In X rounds, you can limit the length of matches, which helps estimate the end time. The melee (variant of X rounds) is ideal for internal tournaments in order to mix the players and encourage a friendly atmosphere. The AB/ABC formats are well suited to tournaments by levels, with distribution into A, B (and C) and appropriate prizes. Finally, direct elimination is a very common format: you lose, you are eliminated; some teams will therefore only play one or two matches, but the prize pool can be more attractive for the finalists.

Each team plays a set number of matches. The ranking is then done according to the results (number of wins, points, point difference (goal-average)). The “Winners vs Winners” variant (or Swiss system) matches teams who won in the previous round against each other.

Teams are placed into groups of 4. Each team plays 2 matches: in the second round, winners play winners and losers play losers. Based on the results, teams are then allocated to Tournaments A, B, or C for the knockout stage, with Tournament A being the most competitive.

It's close to the ABC format, except that in the groups there is a playoff match: it opposes the two teams who have 1 win and 1 loss after the first 2 rounds. The winner goes to A and the other to B. Note: the team that wins its first 2 matches goes directly to A, and the team that loses its first 2 matches goes directly to B.

Petanque Manager automatically manages byes: just enter a score (recommended: 13–7). This score avoids penalizing the ranking, particularly in X rounds where the point difference (goal-average) is taken into account.

Live score and results

The organizer enters the scores as they go. Players and spectators can view progress and rankings in real time via the tournament page. Scores and rankings are updated live: no need to reload the page, everything is automatic.

No. An organizer account is sufficient to manage the tournament. Players (and visitors) can view live results and access the site's public pages, without needing to create an account.

Printing & PDF

Yes. You can generate and print the match sheets as well as the PDF ranking at any time, during or after the tournament.

Yes. When the tournament starts, a QR Code is available. You can print it to allow players to follow the tournament in real time. You can also share the tournament number (or its link) so that participants can easily find it using the search on Petanque Manager.

Organizer account

An organizer account allows you to create, manage and update a tournament (teams, draw, results, ranking, printing). This also lets you keep a history of your tournaments. And if you are disconnected, your data remains saved: once you're back online, you can resume the tournament where you left off.
