Petanque Manager allows you to organize a pétanque, Provençal game or palet competition (and other similar sports), to automatically manage the drawing of games according to the formulas (X games, ABC, AB, direct elimination, scrum), and to follow the results live up to the winners or the final ranking. The history of all your competitions is kept and you can view the results at any time.
Yes, it's free. You can create a competition for a club, an association, a private event or a game between friends. It is not necessary to be club president or committee member: anyone can organize a competition, all you need to do is create an organizer account.
You can register as many teams as necessary. Petanque Manager also manages cases where the number of teams (or players) is odd, with the management of blanks/exempts.
Competition formulas
It all depends on your preferences, the time available, the season and the number of teams. In X games, you can limit the length of games, which helps predict the end time. The melee (variant of X games) is ideal for internal competitions in order to mix the players and promote conviviality. The AB/ABC formulas are well suited to competitions by levels, with distribution into A, B (and C) and adapted winnings. Finally, direct elimination is a very common format: you lose, you are eliminated; some teams will therefore only play one or two games, but the stake may be more attractive for the finalists.
Each team plays a set number of games. The ranking is then done according to the results (number of victories, points, point difference/goal-average). The “Winner versus Winner” variant (or Swiss system) pits the teams who won in the previous round against each other.
The teams are placed in groups of 4. Each team plays 2 games: in the second round, the winners meet and the losers meet. Depending on the results, the teams are then divided into competitions A, B or C for the rest (final phases), competition A being the toughest.
It's close to the ABC formula, except that in the groups there is a play-off game: it opposes the two teams who have 1 victory and 1 defeat after the first 2 rounds. The winner goes to A and the other to B. Note: the team that wins its first 2 games goes directly to A, and the team that loses its first 2 games goes directly to B.
Petanque Manager automatically manages blanks/byes: just enter a score (recommended: 13–7). This score avoids penalizing the ranking, particularly in X games where the difference in points (goal-average) is taken into account.
Live tracking
The organizer enters the scores as they go. Players and spectators can view progress and rankings in real time via the competition page. Scores and rankings are updated live: no need to reload the page, everything is automatic.
No. An organizer account is sufficient to manage the competition. Players (and visitors) can view live results and access the site's public pages, without creating an account.
Print & PDF
Yes. You can generate and print the match sheets as well as the ranking (PDF) at any time, during or after the competition.
Yes. At the start of the competition, a QR Code is available: you can print it to allow players to follow the competition in real time. You can also share the competition number (or its link) so that participants can easily find it via search on Petanque Manager.
Organizer account
An organizer account allows you to create, manage and update a competition (teams, draw, results, ranking, impressions). This also allows you to keep the history of your competitions. And if you are disconnected, your information remains saved: once the connection is reestablished, you can resume the competition where you left off.
